I never FEEL that I've REALLY prayed unless I've prayed in harmony with another person! I'm not sure why unless I don't feel comfortable praying out loud alone and unless I speak, I may not feel that my prayers are being heard and yet I know that's not true either! Therefore, I spend much of my time feeling frustrated about not fulfilling my prayer quota.
If the Son of God 'needed' to spend all that time in prayer....I certainly should be spending more time in prayer than I do now. I used to spend much more time than I do, but even so, it didn't seem as if it was enough. I suppose if we look around at what there is to pray about it is like a bucket with a giant hole in it. We can never cover the obvious needs.
(Isa.28:11-12)-"Indeed, He will speak to this people through stammering lips and a foreign tongue, He who said to them, "Here is rest, give rest to the weary," And, "Here is repose," but they would not listen."
I heard a teaching about the above scripture that encouraged me to pray "in tongues"--all the more because we don't REALLY know how to pray, but the Holy Spirit does and will use our mouths to pray the perfect will of God for any situation we bring to the Father in the Name of Jesus! That is my comfort (my Rest), and my hope about the time I do spend looking into the Word of God and bringing my thoughts and prayers to the Heavenly Father.
I'm sharing this now because as I watch the devastation in Haiti, my heart cries out to God for mercy for the injured and helpless victims of this terrible catastrophe. I also pray that the leaders of that nation will fall on their faces and seek God for forgiveness of any sin past or present that is bringing so many disasters their way.
Scripture says it will rain on the righteous and the unrighteous (it rained in Noah's day for judgment). When as many bad things happen consistently in the same tiny country, I would hope the President and other heads of the nation would fall on their faces and call a fast to seek the Lord for answers as to why they're being stricken. There is Biblical precedent for that sort of action to get out of harm's way. God is merciful when people seek Him sincerely.
In the meantime, I pray for all the hurting children who have no one and no where to go. May God have mercy on them and help them find their way to Himself and get the aid they need this day!
