9 Years and Counting--Happy Birthday-Madeline!

Alleah was only 3 and had hardly spent any time with me. She bravely agreed to join me on the long drive from Lexington, Ky to Florida for Grandparent time! In route, we visited Aunt Les and Uncle Joker who'd recently moved to Columbia, SC where Joker had taken a coaching job at the Univ. of S. C. They entertained her like a "toy doll." We arrived in Apopka with her collection of videos which she would stay awake for into the wee hours of the morning.
After just a couple of days we received a call from "Uncle Chad" that Aunt Mandy might be in labor with their first child and could I please come by to look after things. Sure enough, Little Miss Madeline was on her way ahead of schedule! Because Chad and Mandy weren't quite ready for this little bundle of joy, Alleah played the piano while "Nana Donna" cleaned the house in preparation of the homecoming of Mom and Dad and now the new addition of a new baby.
This is how I so well remember the exciting events surrounding not only Alleah's cherished first visit with her Fl grandparents, but also the arrival of Miss Madeline. Later, my daughter Cy flew down to collect her little Alleah and took advantage of a yard sale where she found a doll as tall as Alleah herself. I'm surprised she didn't have to buy an extra ticket to get the doll on the plane.

When a new baby is welcomed into this world, along with the existing cousin...it does leave a lasting impression for the Happy Grandparents who've enjoyed their parents before them:>)
