I've been a bit out of touch while my friend has been visiting. I have wanted to write, but time slips away. I've been quite concerned about the "natural" disasters happening across our country. The reason I chose this photo is because it looks into the distance.....something I'm thinking we can't do from a spiritual perspective very easily. I received an e-mail that indicated the last time there was homosexual marriage was at the time of Noah...and the earth was flooded. Now that California has joined Massachuchetts in legalizing homosexual marriages, I have seriously wondered if that would explain the recent 500 year flooding of Iowa. One would think the flood would hit California or Massachusetts where the law was passed, but we are all in this thing together as a nation.Added to floods, now fires and it would appear that the warnings in Luke 21:11 are upon us: "In various places there will be great earthquakes, sicknesses, and a lack of food. Fearful events and great signs will come from heaven." While many of us are concerned about the price of a tank of gas, I would suspect that the families who've lost everything due to the floods along the Mississippi River or the fires in California are more concerned about how in the world they will sleep or eat and pull out of the ruble which remains! The idea that their worldly possessions will now fill at least two football fields 70 feet high (if I'm remembering correctly) is astonishing.
I have a strong desire to cry out to God...with someone...for mercy upon our corrupt nation! I hope it's not too late! God has said in His word, "If MY people will humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and I will heal their land" (2 Chron. 7:14). This would seem like an appropriate time to obey this word. The difficulty is "turning from our wicked ways..."! We can cry out, but can we "turn?" I hope we can. I also wonder if there are a sufficient number to get God's attention, but I'm encouraged by Abraham's prayer that if 10 righteous people could be found would God relent on the destruction of Sodom (Gen. 18:26). Abraham stopped asking after 10, but apparently the angels couldn't find even 10! WOW!!!!
Between the Hollywood influence on innocent or rather uninformed citizens and the lack of moral teaching in schools and the lack of examples in our political arena.....where will we find even TEN RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE...should that be enough to stop the judgment of God on an "ungodly" nation?
