Back from ALASKA!!!!

I could have started with an amazing photo of Mt. McKinley or Mt. Ranier in Seattle, but I thought I'd simply prove we're alive and well after a 2 1/2 week hiatus from this BLOG! This snapshot was taken aboard the Princess Railcar in route to their Lodge by a couple we met from San Francisco. She's a weather reporter on a local station there and they were married here in Sarasota where his parents live. Small world after all.....

We enjoyed the couple nights we spent in Talkeetna and did actually see Mt. McKinley (America's tallest mountain). We took a tour to an Ididarod Musher's dog kennel where he explained in much detail how he trained his 50 or so mixed breed pack. Later that same day we rode a small jet boat approximately 13 miles up river to a homesteaders house and he explained how he begain in 1970 to stake his claim and build what has become a 'tourist' attraction--ha!

I will be putting together a nice pictoral website for any of you who'd like to see some of the reminiscing of the trip from Anchorage to Seattle and the week aboard the Diamond Princess which began in Whittier and included Glacier Bay, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchican and ended at Vancouver. I can truly say that we were 'favored' the entire time. We heard the locals say at each location except Juneau, how fortunate we were to have sunshine after such a lousy summer! How good God is! It was my birthday present you know!!!

One of the nicest things was to see first hand where Sarah Palin grew up and served as Mayor (I took pictures of her little Wasilla) and I even bought one of the last copies of her biography which came out in April while visiting a Museum in Anchorage. I loved reading her interesting story and can only believe that she is going to bring GREATNESS to the WHITE HOUSE WHEN SHE AND JOHN McCAIN GET ELECTED :>)

Well, my chicken soup is calling me....My poor husband did catch a cold the last day out of Alaska! I must nurse him back to good health. He has to pay the bills!
