Will I Be Missed

Today I visited a nearby Assembly of God church since my children and grandchildren were out of town.  It seemed a reasonable thing to get plugged into a local church and become a part of the community where I feel God is 'planting' me. I don't want to be 'hanging' onto my children's skirt tail...so to speak.

I loved the message and I quote from it:  "Live in such a way that when you die someone misses you!  There should be a hole in some one's life when you're gone."  The pastor said he wanted his family to spend a year mourning his death.  Now that might seem a bit extreme, and I've had thoughts that everyone should not miss a beat and just cremate me and just go on about their business as usual, but I've had an  awakening.  I want my life to count for more than just a name on a birth certificate somewhere.

Now that I'm living near enough to my grandchildren where I can actually show them some things, I realize I actually know something that they might learn and may prove valuable to them. Perhaps, it will come in handy someday and should this planet still be here and the Rapture not have taken place...they may wish to teach THEIR children or grandchildren some of the things that I now have the time to show them.  It's a joy that I haven't had before and I'm relishing in it.

I just read something quite interesting in Charisma magazine:  Perry Stone writes in The Secret of The Jews "The Israelites were marked as God's covenant people, and their daily guide for living was the Torah, written during Moses' 40 years in the wilderness.  This divine revelation became the "God code" for social, moral, ceremonial, sacrificial, and civil laws and requirements that would forge the Hebrews' living standards and mold their moral ethics.  By following this rule book of heaven, the Hebrew nation would enjoy abundance and success, and they would rise in influence above the surrounding tribes and nations.
Devout religious Jews, often called "Torah-observant Jews," have followed God's Torah code for 35 centuries, enriching their personal lives, families, health, and, in many instances, their finances.  For centuries, gentile Christians have ignored or simply not studied the man important practical applications of the Torah code.
Many of its truths are important for our time, such as the significance of rest one day a week, the importance of eating the proper types of food, the blessing of moral standards and the life cycles for raising children.  We need to examine these codes to under why devout Jews often build strong families, live long lives and celebrate life."

These words rang true after mentioning the fact that "Jews survivng the Holocaust make up less than 1 % of the world's population, yet have won 176 Nobel Prizes.  Twenty-five percent of the organizations that have received the Nobel Peace Prize were founded by Jews.  While 67 % of American high school graduates attend college, 80 % of Jewish high school graduates go to college and 23 percent of them attend Ivy League schools.

Studies have shown that Ashkennazi Jews (those from Northern Europe) are highly intelligent, with verbal IQ of 117-125, and that they score 12-15 points higher than gentile groups in this area."

I have quoted all this information because I have four highly intelligent, college graduated children...one with a PH.D and I'm sure all of my 15 grandchildren are destined for greatness! Why wouldn't they be?  When we accept Christ...we're Jews by faith...grafted into the 'tree...of Calvary and come under the blessing of 'faith!  All the promises that were given to Abraham for the Jews...were conditional and they are for us also...We must believe in Jesus!

In 1978, I saw the movie, The Late, Great, Planet Earth and it scared me so badly that I bought a Bible and began to read it because I knew if it was in there it would be true.  It was in there and I believed the war would take place that would end it all and I didn't want to be here.  I heard about the alternative.....THE RAPTURE OF BELIEVERS.  I'd accepted Jesus when I was a child, but at the fear of the Lord helped move me to the next level...making Him the Lord OVER my life!

So, I hope it occurs soon and I hope if you're not taken in the rapture that you'll miss me!
