God is Amazing!

Have you read enough of the Bible to see how frequently God changed certain peoples' names? I hope you have noticed this occurance, not just in the Old Testament, but in the New Testament, as well.

Many examples of name changes include Abram's name changing to Abraham and his wife, Sarai, changed to Sarah.  Additionally, Jacob's name became Israel in Genesis 32:28.

Often the names of heroes of the Bible were changed by the people who captured them: Then the commander of the officials assigned new names to them; and to Daniel he assigned the name Belteshazzar, to Hananiah Shadrach, to Mishael Meshach and to Azariah Abed-nego.

These young captives are more remembered by their "new" name...although Daniel's writing is recorded by his given name.

Further examples of changing names  are Simon (called Peter {the Rock}) and also, Saul's name changed to Paul, the Apostle.

This seems to be a common occurrence in the Bible and when I thought a little further about it, it occurred to me that once we are saved, having placed our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, our names are written in the Lamb's book of Life, and the scriptures also say that we are "new creatures in Christ."  Therefore,  I cannot help but think that it is by this NEW NAME that we are known!

When I was newly baptized in the Holy Spirit, I attended a regular Bible Study on Monday nights and the teacher commented on the subject of asking God to tell us our new name.  By that time, I had asked God a few things...and He DID answer me!

One of the first things I asked for, with fear and trembling, after this same Bible teacher had encouraged us to do so, was to show me my sins!  What He showed me was a pure, white sheet of paper with nothing written on it.

I knew that wasn't true of my past, but it showed me how completely Jesus' blood had cleansed me and taught me the meaning of G R A C E...God's riches at Christ's Expense. I wept over that revelation!

When I asked the Lord to tell me my new name, I heard within my spirit, MEG.  I looked  up the meaning of this word and found it to mean Large Messanger.  This seems to fit the calling God has placed on my life.  For that reason, I am sharing with you now.

I hope these revelations encourage you and open up some new things to talk to the Lord about if you haven't already.

Blessings!
Donna
